When trying to decide on photography, some couples believe it’s best to skip the maternity photos and just invest in newborn photography once their bundle of joy arrives. However, after photographing couples and families for years now, I’ve noticed that there’s a distinct change that happens from pregnancy to birth.
Pregnancy is a beautifully unique stage all by itself. Couples know that change is coming, and they’re gearing up for the journey together with eager anticipation. Pregnancy glow is a real thing, but I think husbands have their own version of it, too, when they look at their radiant wives with awe and adoration. Plus, couples share some intimate moments together like they never had before.
All that to say: I’ve never had a couple regret documenting their nine-month journey through maternity photos. It gives couples a chance to capture the beauty of pregnancy and closeness they feel right before they step out into a new adventure as parents.
This island couple loves Makapu’u Beach with its dramatic lava rock coastline, surrounding greenery, and mountains in the backdrop. White sandy beaches seem to stretch endlessly, and the water looks remarkably blue. This growing family won’t live in Hawaii forever, so they wanted to document their first pregnancy at a place they’ve fallen in love with and where they will become a family of three and parents for the first time.
They were such a fun duo to photograph! Their adventurous spirits made them unafraid to get sandy and wet, which made for some great shots! She looked absolutely stunning in the long, sheer white wrap that accentuated her growing belly. She looked so peaceful and serene standing there on the beach as the breeze blew through her hair. And I really love the shots of the couple together as they portrayed how in love they are as they begin this new adventure together. Much love to this special couple!
