I met this family while they were on family vacation, as I do most of the families I photograph. This particular family traveled to the Aloha State all the way from the Lone Star State, Texas. This family vacation came at the perfect time for them. They experienced a particularly challenging 2019, so they decided to start 2020 off with time to relax and reset. They were so grateful for the opportunity to come to paradise and just spend time with one another. I could tell in just the first few moments I spent with them the tight bond this family has fostered, no doubt made even stronger through their trials the previous year. Their love for one another was on display throughout the whole session.
With four children, this family of six was not only large in numbers but large in personality. There was no time to be lost capturing photographs of this loving family. The kids all seemed to be one tight knit group. The older ones seemed like the best big brother and sister, always helping the younger ones find their footing on rocks or helping them look for sea creatures in the water. The little ones’ giggles were heard the whole time as they went back and forth playing with their older siblings and their parents. The boys had a blast running on the shoreline and playing in the water, while Mom and Daughter preferred to play it safe and pose for pretty pictures.
It was so fun seeing them all interact. I could see that Mom and Dad had such different relationships with each of their children yet loved them all immensely. I loved taking pictures of Mom and Daughter together; they’re just spitting images of each other! If I could wrap up this whole photo shoot in one word, it would be joy-pure joy.
