This was my second time documenting this family, and I was thrilled to be seeing them again. The first time I photographed them, they were leaving Oahu for the midwest, and now they were back for a visit in efforts to escape the midwest winter for a week. I’m sure they were wishing it was longer when the sunshine first hit them. Hawaii holds a special place in their hearts as both their daughters were born in the islands, and they have so many fond memories from living here.
They wanted a sunrise session at their favorite beach, so we woke up early and got started. I was thinking that the girls would need a bit of time to fully wake up, but they were giddy with excitement. It was so fun seeing their little girls again; they had grown up so much! These sisters have such a sweet relationship that goes beyond sisterhood and into best friends. I loved getting to capture moments of them playing together and holding hands as they walked to the beach. Both of the daughters love flowers, so they chose to wear leis. The bright pinks of the flowers reflected their bright and cheery personalities. They even found flowers and greenery nearby to play with. As fate would have it, we were graced with a rainbow! What a special way to end this sweet session.
