I met this wonderful family when they came to Hawaii for vacation. They are from Canada and chose to take a family vacation at the beautiful Turtle Bay Resort, which is located on the north side of Oahu. Because they were taking such a remarkable vacation, they wanted some amazing photographs to commemorate their time here on the island. Since Turtle Bay has some of the most stunning views of the ocean which abuts dense forest full of rich foliage, they wanted to go with a Where the Wild Things Are theme. I couldn’t have been more excited to shoot a family session with that feel!
Perfect Morning Light for a Perfect Family
We chose a morning photo session to take advantage of the perfect morning light. The family started out in quintessential beach wear: light, white linen, breezy shorts, and sundresses. It was the perfect wardrobe to go with the first set of the session. The family spent the first half of the morning playing in the water, laughing with each other, and building a mini grass hut. They had so much fun together. Their little girl was really good at climbing trees! I was really impressed. She just loved hanging out in trees, fearlessly climbing higher and higher.
The kiddos ditched the day-wear and changed into their swimsuits. I got some cute photos of brother and sister playing deeper in the water and in the sand. But they went quickly back to the trees to keep climbing! They couldn’t stay away from the adventure of the forest! Mom even braved climbing up one of the trees for a cute photo with her son. Seeing how carefree and fun their parents were, I could see where their kids’ love for adventure comes from. I hope you had as wonderful of time on the rest of your vacation!
