This is my second time capturing this sweet family. Their first session we captured together can be found here. They came to Hawaii all the way from Canada. Every couple of years, they end up coming for vacation and stay for a whole month. I love that they really take the time to come and enjoy all that the island has to offer. It means so much to me being able to see clients repeatedly throughout the years as they come to love the island as much as I do.
There’s Something Special About a Sunrise Session
We chose to do a sunrise session at the gorgeous Makapu’u Beach. This beach just has such a wonderful landscape. Between the lava rocks, the tide pools, the mountains in the background, not to mention the white sandy beaches, I mean everywhere you turn, there is a great backdrop! Mom and daughter wanted to add even more beauty to the photos, so they wore some traditional flower crowns, also known as haku lei. One of my favorite spots to grab one of these is Le Flowers. I could see how much their daughter looks up to her mother; what a feeling to cherish and to hold onto.
They are such a tight knit and close family. The relationship between Brother and Sister is such a sweet and loving sibling bond. They had so much fun walking along the lava rocks together and dipping their feet into the tide pool. They are both quite the little adventurers! But it is no wonder where they get it; Mom and Dad were right alongside them doing their own adventuring as well. After a lot of exploring, Mom and Dad took a bit of a break while the kids donned their swimsuits and took to the water. My favorite way to end a session – and a kid favorite as well – in the water, soaking wet, sandy, salty and happy.
This family absolutely adores Hawaii. I was so glad they were able to capture another great family vacation in their home away from home. As the years continue to pass and they continue to return to their happy place, I look forward to seeing how their family continues to grow together.
