A New Day and a New Life an Oahu Maternity Session

This gorgeous maternity session was all about new beginnings. The couple was visiting from the east coast, and even though they leave close to the beach, they love Hawaii. Honestly, comparing east coast beaches to Hawaii is like saying that Texas and Alaska are the same because they both have trees. Both coasts are uniquely beautiful and distinctly different. So, they returned to the beloved aloha island to do their maternity photos and relax a little before baby arrives.

They chose to do an intimate sunrise session, which is one of my favorites. I love the analogy: just as the sun rises for a new day, they will soon be bringing new life into the world and step out on an exciting adventure as new parents. I am so excited for them, and I felt honored to document these special photos for them.

For many moms, pregnancy is an interesting rollercoaster of emotional and physical changes. Some days are great, and other days you wonder what in the world baby is doing in there because it’s not very comfortable. But I want moms-to-be to feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable during their maternity sessions so they can remember what it was like at the beginning of the journey.  To remember waiting together with eager anticipation for their little one to arrive.

During maternity sessions, of course I like to highlight the glowing mama-to-be and her beautiful baby bump, but I also like to capture the closeness of the couple. There’s no better place to relax and enjoy each other’s company than on the beach with the waves gently rolling in. The backdrop of the rocky cliffs and billowing clouds lend themselves to a peaceful state of mind, and that’s exactly what I wanted this couple to experience before they head back home and make final preparations for their baby’s arrival! Congratulations, you two!
